PERSONAL DIARY: “Changes Yet Again”

image

image

As you can see I am pretty lean right now because this picture was taken today.  I was prepared for the Miss Street Machine Nationals in Duquoin, Illinois. That was going to be tomorrow at 2:30 p.m., but plans have changed yet again. You know I love it when plans change!

I had registered with the Miss Street Machine Nationals. Then one thing after another seemed to fall apart. The air goes out on both of my vehicles. My friend volunteers to drive his Dodge extended-cab pickup truck with air. Then his air goes out on his pickup also. I was going to have have a spray tan, so the thought of driving four and a half hours into Illinois  seemed ridiculous. My tan would have melted off by the time I got there.

I guess the thing that made me decide to change my mind was when I watched the weather last night. My worst fear was my tan melting off, but then I find out it’s going to rain up there at the time of the competition.  At that point I realized it was pointless to even go. So I decided not to go.

It would have been fun to go and see 3,000 hot rods. It would have been great practice for posing for NPC. It just didn’t seem worth it for my point of view. I also got the opinion of my good friend Brittany Lynn from Las Vegas, Nevada. She agreed it was pointless to go.

So I did a mini prep for nothing, but then again a good practice for discipline and willpower.  I slimmed up a bit in the process, & so I’m pretty well good to go on bikini season at the pool!

I’m not bummed, everything happens for a reason, and this just wasn’t meant to be.

PERSONAL DIARY: “Last Minute Changes”

image

Everyone knows how life can be.  Life is so effing stressful it can make you want to rip your hair out.  Besides the normal small town immature drama, I have had a competition drop in my lap at the last minute.

The competition will be at the Street Machine Nationals in DuQuoin, Illinois this Sunday at 2 pm.  $250 for first with crown, sash, & trophy.  $150 for second with a trophy.  $100 for 3rd & a trophy.  National magazine coverage at this event, & I have viewed the website linked above in blue, & the event looks badass!  If anything it will be fun!

image

I blurred last year’s winners faces seeing as I don’t have their permission to post this.  Everyone knows I’ve been on a cycle of gaining.  I feel in no way prepared!  I have decided to cut carbs till Sunday night, & that makes me grumpy!  I’m sure my husband & daughter would love to elaborate on this issue.  So we won’t ask….
I’ve suddenly been thrusted into a bikini competition I was in no way prepared for.  We know how bad I am with OCD and my perfectionism, & it can be both a flaw as well as a strength.  Now I’m stressing.  I’m working on posing, and I realize it isn’t a NPC event.  I figure it’s practice for me.

I find myself faced with anxiety with a moral decision I’ve made about this contest.  I will NOT shake my rump or sexually promote anything.  I will be posing and keeping myself classy.  In Texas I did participate with friends of mine at several local nonregulated bikini contests that also paid cash.  They did a dance section.  I’m not hating on anyone who does this kind of contest, but I do have a 9 year old daughter looking up to me as an athlete not a sexual object.  I will not show her sexual moves are ok just to win.  A true athlete, who has fans of a young age, needs to have a certain line they will not cross.  I’m treating this as I would a NPC regulated bikini class competition event.  Pictured below in a Texas contest, wear you shook your ass…..

image

image

It is a scored event, so this eases the anxiety.  I still though, in the back of my mind think there’s going to be that one girl who tries to be sexy.  Then the judges buy that crap, & she will win.  Bummer right?!  In the end, if I lose at least I know I did it with class, poise, beauty, & a bangin body!

Look at the above pic, I had to Google pretzel suits….. lame I know! LOL

I will be leaning out, hydrating & then dehydrating, fasting, cardio, & small weight training 3 times a day all week till saturday.  Saturday I get my airbrush tan at Sunsplash Tanning located in Kennett, Missouri.

Until then I’ll keep you posted!  Thank you for your continued support!

PRODUCT REVIEW: Quest Protein Bars “strawberry cheesecake”

image

image

I first came across quest bars on Facebook.  All the fitness groups I am a member of on Facebook as well as on bodyspace has made me read a lot from my fitness family about Quest Bars being awesome.  I usually buy my protein bars at Walmart or Aldi.  My favorite protein bar from Aldi is the peanut & honey covered in yogurt. My daughter and I, our favorite protein bar from Walmart is cookie dough.

In my small hometown with a population of only 1700 people, Walmart & Aldi is about all we have here. When we go over to Jonesboro, Arkansas we like to visit the Kroger. Kroger tends to carry a lot of foodie items that I really truly enjoy. While surfing the protein bar isle, I was enthralled at how many choices I had in front of me.  I have not only the options I had at Walmart, but now I have the option of trying a Quest Bar finally!  I chose Quest Bars strawberry cheesecake flavored protein bar. The bar was a bit more pricey than what I’m used to, but it was worth a try based on the reviews I’ve heard.

image

I noticed the nutritional values on the back of the packaging for the bar. Look above at the picture it pretty much explains for itself! From what I’ve experienced so far this is the truly only low carb are on the market with just two grams of active carbs. Those carbs are only from nutts and not sugars.  Protein in the whole bar is 20 grams!  I was very impressed by what I saw on the nutritional values.

LIKE ALWAYS WHAT YOU WANT TO REALLY KNOW! DID I LIKE THE FLAVOR?!

A protein bar will be a protein bar. Anyone who has ate a protein bar will know that it can be kind of gritty.  Just like all protein bars this bar is no different in that aspect. I was impressed by the natural strawberries that are actually within the bar itself.  Below are pictures of the bar once I opened it.

image

image

You can somewhat see the little flakes of dehydrated strawberries in the picture.  I was impressed at the fact that the cheesecake flavoring did not overpower the strawberry taste.   This was my first flavor of trying, but I did enjoy the strawberry cheesecake.

Was the bar worth the price? I don’t think so. I don’t think I’ll be buying another strawberry cheesecake flavor, but I will be trying some of the other flavors and I will be keeping you posted.

Please note this will be a protein bar I will be using during prepping weeks.

Until then, happy hunting and keep pushing strong.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Halo Top Ice Cream “Birthday Cake”

image

I first found this product on Facebook when I liked their page.  Once impressed by visiting their website online I decided to locate the nearest seller of this miracle ice cream.  Bingo! Kroger in Jonesboro, AR carried this treasure!

I want to say as a lobbyist for buying products manufactured in the USA, I approve this product in this aspect of the subject.  It is manufactured in a creamery located in California.  Shown in the picture below.

image

While we are looking at this picture I want you to note a few nutritional values here.  These are a few things that turn me onto this ice cream.  The serving size is half a cup. The servings in 1 pint is 4.  The calories in only a half cup is 70 cals. If you ate the whole pint on a cheat meal you come out with only 280 calories! Which could make for a better option on depressed days or ice cream craving cheats.  I also want to point out the protein content in this ice cream.  In a half cup you will have 6 grams of protein.  If you ate the whole pint you would have 24 grams of protein! Carbs are 15g a serving, please note that for my prepping fans!

image

This ice cream freezes hard due to the fact they do not use artifical softeners in this product.  I let mine sit out a bit to make it softer. It’s an all natural ice cream made with all natural ingredients, no artificial sweeteners, vegan friendly, no GMOs, & gluten free.

image

The last point I want to make is what we all wonder……  is the flavor good?

YES IT IS! This flavor was out of this world!  It even has hidden sprinkles that we all know we enjoying finding hidden within the ice cream!  It’s like finding the prize in the cereal box.  It tasted like Baskin Robbins ice cream. I was simply blown away!

This is my first time buying this product & I WILL BE BUYING AGAIN.

This roduct is approved by me!

My Secrets To Crushing My Workouts

image

VISUALIZE THE WORKOUT LONG BEFORE YOU BEGIN IT!

The intensity of my workouts demand a lot from me.  Not everyone’s workout will be as hardcore as mine, but no matter your level of exercise or fitness, the same focus I use to my workouts will also apply to you.  Your normal day to day life can never prepare you for the type of workout you will get results from.

I prepare for a tough workout 60 minutes in advance, but I recommend at a minimum of at least 30 minutes before your workout.  Whatever I do, I will not wait till I’m staring down the barrel of a gun (the weights) to get mentally prepared.

As I walk into any gym I get invited to workout at, I visually prepare mentally to what I’m about to do.  I visualize why I am about to do the workout.  I think about the $10,000 I could win in 8 weeks.  I visualize the beast mode engaging within me.  Then last, but not least, I think about how I want to feel after I am done with the workout.  Do I want to be proud or disappointed is the the question in my mind.

I figure I have 2 ways to look at a workout.  I can either do it because I have to or do the workout because I actually want to.  Which sounds better to you?  I have done both with all honesty.  No one will ever want to do a workout because they want to 100% of the time!

PREWORKOUT INTAKE TIMING IS CRUCIAL!

We have all seen gym attendees chugging the preworkout either in the locker room or in the gym right before their workout.     Then those people walk out into the gym & are prepared to bust it. Drinking a preworkout then is entirely to late.

Let me explain why this is wrong.  The caffine & enhancers have not had time to kick in.  The label on most preworkouts suggest 30-45 minutes before your workout.  I personally take my preworkout 30 minutes before I begin my workout.  Mentally, from habit it, it helps me also put me in workout mode by drinking it.

Sometimes I feel down to some medical issues, & I will eventually disclose those issues in time in future posts.  For me, taking my preworkout & giving it time to kick in is key.  Cellucor C4 is crucial to me being successful in the most intense workouts.  I feel it kick in when the Beta-alanine, & makes my hands & feet tingle.

You can get Cellucor C4 at Walmart, http://www.flexitnutrition.com, or @bodybuilding.com.

MOTIVATIONAL MUSIC & VIDEOS ARE A MUST!

Looking for something to do while in the locker room getting ready or mentally preparing? Looking for something to motivate you during your workout?  Looking for something to listen to as you mentally prepare while sipping your preworkout?

I listen to Rob Bailey’s music on Bootheel Fitness’ Rap Playlist or Bootheel Fitness’ Motivational Playlist. Rob’s music has changed my life for the better & has personally empowered me.  Sometimes you just need a good motivational talking to!  The motivational videos on Bootheel Fitness’ playlist are another key to my fitness success.

GIVE YOURSELF THE OPTION OF GOING BALLS TO THE WALLS!

My success was largely built by a few simple rules of ethics.  I operate by a few simple words.  The words speak for themselves.  My words of wisdom are: Consistency, dedication, sacrifice, resourcefulness, & disapline.  I will break down each word of wisdom in short.

Consistency in my training, my effective movements, my nutrition, & my living my life PERIOD!  My schedule is my best friend!

Sacrifice…. where should I begin.  I have sacrificed friends, family, and more than I care to ever explain.  If they bring you down or talk about you, they are not worth your time.

Disapline was when I blocked family & friends because of unneeded drama.  If you aren’t bringing me up, you had to go!  When I did this act, I had nervousness, but once it did it,  I told my mom that it was like a 100 pound bag dropped off my back and I was free!  Disapline on nutrition, living style, & trainings should never be overlooked.

Dedication is when life hands you those lemons.  What are you going to do?   Are you going to quit or are you going to say not today!  I have had derailments along my way that will all be posted eventually.  The key is if you get knocked down, by golly pick your ass up!  It might be 3 weeks later.  Reset & recover, then don’t let it stop you!

Last is resourcefulness, & this is a key to not burning out!  The options of fitness never end.  Don’t burn out on 1 thing.  Variety is the spice of life!  A routine can kill sometimes.  Try at the beginning with something fun after your warm up.  A new exercise try is not only fun, but it is also educational.

KNOW ALL YOUR NUMBERS!

Magic can happen for me when I do measurements.   I do my measurements once a week.  It makes me accountable to myself.  Not to mention, weight watchers success was the accountability by a number system!  I use my Bodyspace account for my tracking.

ADD SOMETHING NEW ON 2 A DAYS OR THE MOST INTENSE OF INTENSE DAYS.

I add a cup or 2 of coffee in the morning.  Sometimes combined in my protein shakes for breakfast.  I use Cellucor’s C4 for preworkout.  Then multiple drinks made with Optimum Nutrition’s Pro BCAA Raspberry Lemonade drink mix.  BCAAs also help in the my delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).

Be proud of what you achieve! You’re better than those not even trying.  You stepped in the gym.  Making fun of an overweight person at the gym is like making fun a an alcoholic at a NA meeting!

PERSONAL DIARY: Leg Day Sucked Not Sucked

image

APRIL 6, 2016

Today was really hard.  My motivation was low.  On some days my mind says you need to workout, but then just simply has problems executing the task.  It’s a side effect of Bi-polar.

Drug ass all day, but once I got my child home & my hubby settled, I made myself get up & go do leg day.  My effort wasn’t what it normally is, but at least I got it done.

I got a new deadlift 1RM of 100 pounds! That was a plus, but my squats suffered.  I guess what I did is better than nothing. Nothing is worse than dealing with your own inner voice nagging at yourself about what you didn’t do.  At least I will be able to sleep tonight.

MY OPINIONS: “Skinny Shaming”

image

When I think of skinny or fat shaming I think of an old Britney Spears song “Piece of Me”.
The link to the video:

I have never been one to support any type of shaming.  I never liked being called fat and I sure as heck don’t like being called skinny.

When I was in highschool I was a very high quality athlete.  I was always small.  At 10% body fat, I weighed 100 pounds & could grab rim on the high school basketball goal in the gym.  I was solid muscle and a very small girl, but you could call me mighty mouse.

When I had my daughter I was 180 pounds after birth.  I struggled to even look at myself in the mirror.  I felt as if I looked like a fat cow.  My hubby never made me feel anything less than a MILF.  I got called fat, was bullied on MySpace (2006), & eventually moved to Texas because of the bullying.

image

The picture in the top left, I thought I had seriously lost weight, & finally comfortable with wearing a bikini outside.  I was slip and sliding with my child when I hear a neighbor yell I’m a fat whore.  My daughter heard it.  I was completely mortified & pissed.  So I kicked in gear the start of my hard journey ahead.

The top right I was making progress.  Never had anyone bother me for my weight then or in the bottom left picture (The 2014 Bezerker Mud Run), but the bottom right picture to the present time has been filled with skinny shaming.

I lost millions of friends when I lost weight, & what was once not acceptable “fat shaming” has turned into “Skinny shaming”.  I have had people say I’m on drugs, anorexic, & so on.  To work so hard to look the way I do, it hurt to be told I was on drugs.

Even the “fat” (I prefer unhealthy) family members love to skinny shame.  So when I think if the song I think “She’s to big now she’s to thin”.

Why is it OK to call small petite people skinny & us small people aren’t allowed to say fat?  It hurts both ways, no matter how you say it!  Do you know why the person is skinny? Maybe the person is struggling with stress, PTSD, depression, a medical issue, ect.  Just like I wouldn’t know why someone is over weight, you don’t know why a skinny person is the size they are.  In my case, me being fat was because I was lazy, pure honesty.

I want people to think before speaking, because unless you know the person personally you don’t know the struggles they are under.  Like mama always says, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”

HOLISTIC MEDICINE: PINEAPPLE COUGH MEDICINE

image

Many people do not realize how amazing the pineapple is.  Besides it’s weird shape, pronged top, & it’s bright yellow color the pineapple has other huge amazing health benefits.

While the pineapple may look intimidating, it doesn’t hurt when you touch it.  Your body will thank you when you eat this underutilized super fruit!  The pineapple has a days worth of vitamin C, & then some, in just 1 cup of fresh cut pineapple chunks.

A cats reaction to a pineapple can be priceless, but this amazing plant can actually be more effective than some OTC cough syrups.  In my opinion it’s better than Promethazine with Codine.
You can drink the juice or eat the pineapple when coughing.  I swear to you it helps my coughing hands down.  It’s my family’s go to for coughing.

Dieting, really is never any fun.  To be successful at a diet it has to be a lifestyle change.  I love snack cakes.  Snack cakes were very hard to not eat when starting my new life.  That’s when I found the great and amazing pineapple.  A good ripe pineapple should smell like a pineapple strongly when you sniff it.  A ripe pineapple is so juicy & sweet you could eat it for candy (try freezing it), a drink with food by just eating it, breakfast, snacks, & so on.

The pineapple is normally thought of as a tropical fruit, but not quite so! The last info I’m going to leave you with about this fruit shocked me.  You can regrow it just by cutting top of & placing it in water.  Just surf on over to pintrest, there’s several things you can regrow from scraps.
