MY OPINIONS: Why Do We Fail?

image

How easy is it for us to blame everyone and everything that’s wrong in our own lives?  We look around ourselves and we find that we are unhappy with the life that only we chose to create.  Then there are those that look down on you for being successful and happy and they are the ones that are unhappy with their own lives.  There is such a thing as being a great and positive person with the best of intentions towards everyone and everything, and then stuff gets rough and you can’t seem to catch a break.  Who doesn’t this happen to? I know what happens to me on a daily basis.  One minute things are great and you’re in heaven, and then the next minute it seems like your life is hell.

If you look for pain, dysfunction, drama, being broke, and struggling that means you have looked for every excuse in the book to why you’re not successful.  It’s not your childhood or the environment you grew up in because I know some of the most successful in America, & those people are people that have grown up in the worst shitholes of America.  Don’t be that lazy bum person that’s full of excuses as to why you’re not winning. You are the only reason you’re not winning in life.  This blog isn’t to tear you down, but rather open your eyes.

You can do the same thing over and over and over again expecting different results, but five years later you will still be where you are today.  The other option to that horrible situation is that you look up at the mountain in front of you. You can start today to climb that mountain and eventually reach its peak. Maybe not now, but definitely!

I know it’s not easy. Nothing good ever came easy. I’ve been told that my dreams are pipe dreams and that I cannot achieve my dreams. I’ve been told there’s no possible way to achieve my goals and that the things in life that I want I will never be able to do or have.  Why? Because your dream died? Mine shouldn’t live? Oh! But my dream will live!  I’m going to fight back for what I believe in, what I want to achieve, my own dreams, and my goals. I’m not just fighting for myself! I’m fighting for my friends, my family, and I will make certain I will fight back!

See, the crazy thing about greatness and being a champion, is that no one expected anyone to make it. In that same breath I go out, and I do it anyway just to prove them wrong.  Greatness isn’t about having money. Greatness is about the achievements, about doing something great for others, doing stuff when others doubt it, it’s about listening to the doubters, and making those doubters eat their words.  Today and each and every day hereafter is the day I will walk all over my enemies. I will reach that moment in my life when I become that person that others can look to and say she went through it and I can do it too.  As humans we feed off one another. As humans we tend to look up to someone that’s great like they’re special, but they’re just like everyone else. Everyone is imperfect.  Even I have people that I look up too, so that means each and everyone of you are exactly like me.

Each day I’m tested by life in a like manner. If I persist and I continue to try to move forward I will succeed!  I’m not a sheep needing prodded by my shepherd. I’m alone, and I don’t live or lie down with the sheep.

I will not hear those who weep or complain. For those who weep and complain are a disease, and that disease is contagious. Let them join the sheep with the rest of the flock. This is not a house of failure, and I will persist until I succeed! Never will I consider defeat even though I know it will happen.  When defeat finds me it will not define me, and it will make me stronger.  The words I can’t or impossible are simply words of fools. Those foolish words will simply be ripped from my vocabulary forever.

I will toil forever and always keeping mine eyes on the gold and the prize at the end of the road.  I know from where the driest desert ends, the new world will arise for myself. I will try again and again defeating each obstacle. I’ll consider every obstacle and derailment a mere detour and challenge to my own profession.

Don’t let the biggest enemy be the enemy within your own mind. I know for myself my own mind is my worst enemy. Whether it’s working out, cleaning the house, or just doing something stupid I have to be the hardest person on myself. I really don’t even give my husband the opportunity to get all over me for anything because I’m so hard on myself.  I’ve slowly come to realize that I am my own enemy half of the time. The other half comes from the BS you put with from everyone else.

As I have said at the end of some of my other post… in the Cowboys locker room it says be your best regardless of the circumstances!

PERSONAL DIARY: What I Do On Rest Day

image

May 28, 2016

Start by updating on my mama. She’s still having dizzy spells. Cause unknown.  Ask for continued thoughts please?

I have not posted a personal diary post  lately.  Figured on rest day what a better day to do so!  I only took a rest day due to extreme muscle spasms in my right lat.

As you all know me taking a rest day is hard.  I did foam rolling twice today, & when I’m done posting I’m going for the final roll!

Tonight’s post is simply an update on my progress & a thank you to a new sponsor.

Thank you to Inception Labs for believing in me.  They are not supplements, but they are a great company & I’m proud & honored to be a part of their team.

These are my 4 week progress photos, after my first pic being from the very beginning!

That’s all for this diary post.  Thank you for the continued support of fans & fit fam!  Hoping to compete again first of next year if not this fall.

I just need the cash flow to get the suit & extra expenses.  Wish the workout Gods would drop someone at my doorstep like they did Inception!  God works in mysterious ways!

My Secret To My Delts!

image

image

image

I know these pictures are just horrible of me, but sometimes you just need to see a real person in their nonmakeup wearing state.  Plus, the point of the pictures are my delts anyways!

Who doesn’t love the great and amazing delt day?  Shoulder day is my favorite day, & some weeks I have to keep myself from doing delts every day.  How funny would I look with nothing but huge shoulders?

I get the question from both males and females.  The question is, what is my favorite shoulder day workout?  So! here is my favorite deltoid workout!

♤EACH SET GETS WEIGHT RAISED
♤8 SETS
♤FIRST SET SHOULD HAVE 12-15 MAX REPS, & LAST SET WITH WEIGHT RAISED TILL FAILURE

SUPERSET
DUMBBELL LATERAL RAISE + DUMBBELL FRONT RAISE (INSTEAD OF DOING A SET OF EACH BACK TO BACK, I DO EACH REP BACK YO BACK MOVEMENTS.  MORE OF A COMPOUND MOVEMENT)

DUMBBELL ARNOLD PRESS

SUPERSET
DUMBBELL BENT OVER REAR DELT + PLATE CAR DRIVERS

SEATED DUMBBELL PRESS

SUPERSET
BARBELL PUSH PRESS + PUSH PRESS BEHIND NECK (ANOTHER SUPERSET DONE LIKE THE FIRST EXERCISE.  MOVEMENTS BACK TO BACK.)

CABLE REAR DELT FLY

The weight you start out with should burn at 15.  If you wanted to do 20 -25 reps on the first set, that’s perfectly fine.  Burner sets are a great way to get those muscle fibers in action for better hytrophy.

I think there’s nothing sexier on a man or woman than nice shoulders.  It’s my first look when I see someone, what kind of shape are their shoulders in!

GYM TALK: “What Is A Superset?”

image

When you Google the word superset this is what comes up:

image

So by terms of the gym, supersets are when two exercises are performed in a row without stopping.  There’s no rule saying you have to rush from one exercise to the other. Supersets are not done for time.  At first, some find endurance to be an issue, but the more you work at it the better your endurance will get.

There are two options when it comes to supersets.  You can do supersets working the same muscle, or you can do supersets by working two different muscle groups.

Some examples of supersets working the same muscles are:
Rear Delts + Lateral Raises
Goblet Squats + Sumo Squats
Deadlifts + Suspended Hamstring Pullins
Crunches + Situps

Some examples of supersets working two different muscles are:
Hammer Curls + Weighted Tricep Dips
Deadlifts + Squats
Bicycle Crunches + Situps
Lateral Raises + Renegade Rows

The best thing about working two different muscle groups with supersets is in between each set the muscle will get a short break.

Supersets are some of my favorite workouts to do. I find that I get the most results out of a good couple of different superset exercises.  Some workouts I concentrate on a single muscle group. There are some workouts that I will do two muscle groups in a super set. I try to vary them in my workouts, & I seem to get the most results that way.

Some of my favorite supersets are lateral raises combined with front raises, any squat combined with any lunge, & and when doing core I always do the same muscle group.  My favorite two muscle groups to work in a superset is shoulders and back.  Every superset will consist of anywhere between 4 to 8 sets.  The reps on each set can vary between 10 to 15. When I’m pulling 8 sets, my reps can be only between 2 and 5 reps in a set at the end. It’s always wise to rest 2 minutes between each set. Your muscles need time to reset.

PRODUCT REVIEW: WOD Fitters Foam MFR Roller

image

image

image

I have been on my fitness journey now for 5 years. I have always seen those foam rollers, and wondered what the heck are they for? I started looking at them at Walmart. The basic foam roller with no studs or ribs on it wasn’t too bad of a price, but I wasn’t willing to pay it. I then noticed one that had some texture on the roller. The price on it was even more and I still deemed it not worth it. So I left Walmart with no foam roller in hand.

Recently the workout Gods dropped a WOD Fitters foam roller at my front door. I won it on their Facebook contests they run, so FYI THEIR FACEBOOK CONTESTS ARE LEGIT. It came with its own little bag to put it in for traveling. I also noticed that the foam roller itself was not only ribbed but also studded. I then did a little research over the foam roller itself from WOD fitters. I found that the material that this roller is made out of resistant to microbes. Not saying I don’t clean it, but the fact that microbes can’t attach itself to it is a pretty damn good selling point.

I used to my new foam roller post-workout the day after I received it. I had done much research on YouTube about how to effectively foam roll my muscles. I was very skeptical at how this would help me, but once I used it it was like a million little Chinese elbows digging into my muscles. The feeling of the deep tissue massage done by this foam roller left me feeling amazing afterwards! If it ain’t hurting when you’re rolling; it ain’t going to feel good when you’re done.

In my opinion, this is the best foam roller I have found on the market. Decently priced when I looked at their website, & they seem to stand behind their product! WOD Fitters also offers many other massage products for athletes on their website which I will be purchasing in the future.

Here is the link to WOD fitters.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Quest Protein Bars “strawberry cheesecake”

image

image

I first came across quest bars on Facebook.  All the fitness groups I am a member of on Facebook as well as on bodyspace has made me read a lot from my fitness family about Quest Bars being awesome.  I usually buy my protein bars at Walmart or Aldi.  My favorite protein bar from Aldi is the peanut & honey covered in yogurt. My daughter and I, our favorite protein bar from Walmart is cookie dough.

In my small hometown with a population of only 1700 people, Walmart & Aldi is about all we have here. When we go over to Jonesboro, Arkansas we like to visit the Kroger. Kroger tends to carry a lot of foodie items that I really truly enjoy. While surfing the protein bar isle, I was enthralled at how many choices I had in front of me.  I have not only the options I had at Walmart, but now I have the option of trying a Quest Bar finally!  I chose Quest Bars strawberry cheesecake flavored protein bar. The bar was a bit more pricey than what I’m used to, but it was worth a try based on the reviews I’ve heard.

image

I noticed the nutritional values on the back of the packaging for the bar. Look above at the picture it pretty much explains for itself! From what I’ve experienced so far this is the truly only low carb are on the market with just two grams of active carbs. Those carbs are only from nutts and not sugars.  Protein in the whole bar is 20 grams!  I was very impressed by what I saw on the nutritional values.

LIKE ALWAYS WHAT YOU WANT TO REALLY KNOW! DID I LIKE THE FLAVOR?!

A protein bar will be a protein bar. Anyone who has ate a protein bar will know that it can be kind of gritty.  Just like all protein bars this bar is no different in that aspect. I was impressed by the natural strawberries that are actually within the bar itself.  Below are pictures of the bar once I opened it.

image

image

You can somewhat see the little flakes of dehydrated strawberries in the picture.  I was impressed at the fact that the cheesecake flavoring did not overpower the strawberry taste.   This was my first flavor of trying, but I did enjoy the strawberry cheesecake.

Was the bar worth the price? I don’t think so. I don’t think I’ll be buying another strawberry cheesecake flavor, but I will be trying some of the other flavors and I will be keeping you posted.

Please note this will be a protein bar I will be using during prepping weeks.

Until then, happy hunting and keep pushing strong.

PERSONAL DIARY: The Guy That Grunts To Get Attention In The Gym

image

May 14, 2016

My husband had planned on helping my sister move her stuff into her new home in Jonesboro, Arkansas today.  So me being the PR person I know I can be decided to also plan ahead to work.  We all know my work consists of training mostly, so I decided to go to the gym my husband & I visited together before we were married.  I send out a notice via Facebook I was going to train not thinking much more about it.  I just wanted someone to train with was why I posted it, lame I know right!

As we roll into Jonesboro I see my alumni, my old school, where I got my college degree, Arkansas State University!  O! The fun my family had there at tailgates & football games.  I’m at the same moment preparing myself for what I’m about to have to do.

As I roll into the parking lot of the gym; I look at the huge building in front of me, and it is somewhat intimidating due to the fact in our small hometown gyms don’t look like this.  It’s not like I haven’t been in this gym a million times before, but it still intimidated me.

I first go in the women’s only weight room just to get adjusted. I do my stretching and a few machine weights in that room alone. I then noticed something funny to myself; 4 girls have trickled in, in the time I have been in this woman’s only weight room.  Out of the four girls that were in the weight room while I was in there two remained when I left.  The first girl did each machine for 5 seconds then left for the women’s locker room never to be seen again. I wondered to myself how could she possibly have gotten anything accomplished so I assumed I would see her again at some other part of the gym.  Another girl entered and she was in there approximately 10 minutes. I did pass judgment on her thinking the same as I did before with the other lady. Have you know, the second lady I met in the lady’s room, was up in the coed machine weight room. So I was wrong for passing judgment on her period she was there doing the same thing I was. Again, the second lady who entered the ladies locker room with me, was in the cardio area when I was up there. The girl that was on the machines for five seconds each time was never to be seen again.

I make my way down to the coed free weight room. Note I am the only female in this entire area. Given! that most gyms I visit, there’s always that one guy who wants to try to help you because he thinks you know absolutely diddly-squat about anything. I’ve become the queen of bitchery, so I always have a witty sarcastic comeback.

Most of the guys left me alone in the coed free weight room. But yet there’s always that one guy who seems to need to grunt like he’s constipated trying to pass a brick every time he lifts a weight.   Now I’m here to tell you he was grunting  excessively!  It wasn’t because he was actually putting out maximum effort, but rather he was trying to grab my attention.  Note again, had he been hot I could have tolerated the annoying grunts.    So to avoid this annoying behavior, I moved to the other side of the free weight room to do a bit of rowing action.  Rowing is the one thing I can’t do in my home gym so I was taking full advantage of this machine.  Here comes up Mr. Gruntfest!  After eight sets of rowing action; I then move back over to where I was at on the freeweights on the other side of the room.  So while I’m doing plate rows he then follows me back over there where I’m at.  He was like a bad case of herpes that I just couldn’t seem to get rid of.  I leave and go upstairs to the cardio area to do some stair climbing.  Thinking I had gotten rid of my case of herpes.

My goal in the workout was 17 flights of stairs. Guess who shows up? Mr. Gruntastic himself.  It took me 5 minutes to do 17 flights of stairs. When I saw him step up on the treadmill next to me, I kicked the level of the speed up about 9 notches.  Then I left.

I did what I came to do. I lifted weights really well I was pleased with my work ethic. I enjoyed seeing the friends that showed up. I did not expect anyone to show up actually, but the fact people did show up just to train with me made me feel fantastic!

Gentlemen, I have one bit of advice for you in the gym. To get the ladies, don’t get behind her or beside her and grunt every time you left the damn weight.  To follow her around the entire gym says you’re a stalker.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Halo Top Ice Cream “Birthday Cake”

image

I first found this product on Facebook when I liked their page.  Once impressed by visiting their website online I decided to locate the nearest seller of this miracle ice cream.  Bingo! Kroger in Jonesboro, AR carried this treasure!

I want to say as a lobbyist for buying products manufactured in the USA, I approve this product in this aspect of the subject.  It is manufactured in a creamery located in California.  Shown in the picture below.

image

While we are looking at this picture I want you to note a few nutritional values here.  These are a few things that turn me onto this ice cream.  The serving size is half a cup. The servings in 1 pint is 4.  The calories in only a half cup is 70 cals. If you ate the whole pint on a cheat meal you come out with only 280 calories! Which could make for a better option on depressed days or ice cream craving cheats.  I also want to point out the protein content in this ice cream.  In a half cup you will have 6 grams of protein.  If you ate the whole pint you would have 24 grams of protein! Carbs are 15g a serving, please note that for my prepping fans!

image

This ice cream freezes hard due to the fact they do not use artifical softeners in this product.  I let mine sit out a bit to make it softer. It’s an all natural ice cream made with all natural ingredients, no artificial sweeteners, vegan friendly, no GMOs, & gluten free.

image

The last point I want to make is what we all wonder……  is the flavor good?

YES IT IS! This flavor was out of this world!  It even has hidden sprinkles that we all know we enjoying finding hidden within the ice cream!  It’s like finding the prize in the cereal box.  It tasted like Baskin Robbins ice cream. I was simply blown away!

This is my first time buying this product & I WILL BE BUYING AGAIN.

This roduct is approved by me!

PERSONAL DIARY: Leg Day Sucked Not Sucked

image

APRIL 6, 2016

Today was really hard.  My motivation was low.  On some days my mind says you need to workout, but then just simply has problems executing the task.  It’s a side effect of Bi-polar.

Drug ass all day, but once I got my child home & my hubby settled, I made myself get up & go do leg day.  My effort wasn’t what it normally is, but at least I got it done.

I got a new deadlift 1RM of 100 pounds! That was a plus, but my squats suffered.  I guess what I did is better than nothing. Nothing is worse than dealing with your own inner voice nagging at yourself about what you didn’t do.  At least I will be able to sleep tonight.
